Satori 2001 Staff Bios

Directors:

  • Mike Cantlon - Satori Camp Co-founder and Co-director. Mike is a teacher for Spokane School District 81's gifted education program. He is also an adjunct faculty member of the Education Department at Eastern Washington University.
  • Dr. Bruce Mitchell - Satori Camp Co-founder and Co-director. Dr. Mitchell is a retired professor for Eastern Washington University's Department of Education. He is a noted researcher and author in areas of creativity, gifted education and multicultural education.
  • Kyndra Gamache - Satori Camp Assistant Director. Kyndra has been with Satori camp for thirteen of its eighteen years: first as a camper, then a counsellor and for the past six years as Assistant Director. She is a graduate of Gonzaga University.

  • Tyler Burnet - Professional dance teacher and drama instructor at Western Washington University.
  • Doug Clark - Newspaper columnist for the Spokane Spokesman Review.
  • Sherry Clark - Teacher in the Mead School District.
  • Nathan Collins - Graduate student in Physics at MIT.
  • Rick Dethman - Veteran of Wild Walls Climbing Gym; lead climbing instructor.
  • Tammy Hovern - Teacher in the East Valley School District.
  • John Hagney - Teacher for Spokane School District 81 and Spokane Falls Community College; 1997 Presidential Scholar Distinguished Teacher.
  • Dr. Sidney Kasuga - Professor of Biology at Eastern Washington University; noted researcher in the field of Immunology.
  • Jeff Kent - Teacher for Spokane School District 81; currently serving on the Spokane Arts Commission.
  • Chris Mathieson - Graduate student of Philosophy in Canada.
  • Jeff Mitchell - Teacher in California School District
  • Gayle Muir - Counsellor in family practice.
  • Cam Preston - Instructor with the SHADOW survival program and former military survival specialist.
  • Society for Creative Anachronism - Historical society devoted to accurately recreating the Middle Ages.
  • Brannon Zahand - Software test engineer at Microsoft; holds both MCSE and MOUS certifications.
  • Dr. Mike Zientek - Researcher with the U.S. Geological Society; adjunct faculty at Eastern Washington University.
