Yesterday was the beginning of many things.
Here at Satori, the Mixed Media Art Class was one of them.
First off, our instructor, Mr. Jeff Kent, showed
us the clay tiles we will be glazing and/or painting. He was also
very helpful in pointing out ideas for sculptures and projects,
as well as being very generous about supplying materials.
As for the projects themselves, I am looking
forward to how everyone's things will turn out. There is a lot
of stuff to work with, and almost nothing seems to be unreachable.
The main idea is to take approximately four tiles, paint them,
and build them into some sort of sculpture. We have everything
from tiles to hard rubber tubes and chicken wire to tissue paper.
Here are some of the campers' ideas:
Nina Neff has broken up some tiles. She says,
"I'm going to hang them froma piece of tube and make a wind
chime!"
Terra Potts has four small tiles that she's
painted. She is going to glue them to a piece of oard, which she
has tailored to fit her idea.
Once we got comfortable, people started walking
around and the air grew thick with buzzing ideas. I think that
we're all excited about this class, or at least I am!
