Exciting classes, great games, vast intellectual
conversations about the meaning of “schnarg,” and of course
Bob the Tree always signal the beginning of a new year of Satori.
However, contradictory to Mike Cantlon’s
statement last night before capture the flag that “Satori is
never the same,” there is one thing that never seems to change:
the food.
Commonly referred to as “Tawanka,” after
the cafeteria where older Satorians used to dine, Satori food
has proved to be an interesting culinary experience for years.
Because the food seems to be consistently
interesting, year after year, it has caused some to wonder if
the food we are eating now might be leftovers from years gone
by.
Satori food has at least one fan in Cantlon.
In regards to Monday’s breakfast, Cantlon told the Harold, “Oh
my, it was good.”
This comment came after various campers found
that morning’s sausages to have superball-like properties.
“The sausage bounces,” said Kaille Kirkham
gleefully as she watched a sausage bounce off her tray.
Even though it is Tawanka, B.J. Zahand, Satori’s
culinary pseudo-critic gave Monday’s breakfast and lunch both
B ratings. No rating has yet been obtained for dinner.
“The tater-tots send me back to my elementary
school days,” Zahand said.
With the arrival of cheerleaders and the fact that campers have
been able to stomach the food, the situation of our culinary
experience seems to be looking up.
As long, as Sara Maleki put it, as last’s
years enchiladas do not make a return appearance.
