Room Changes Affect Classes

The first few days of Satori camp met with
organizational problems with the classrooms, but by Wednesday
the problems appeared to be over.
The first, Sunday at the JFK library, was
a locked door. Later that same day, at the Pence Union Building,
PUB, another door was left locked when the room was scheduled
to be used. There have also been problems with access to computer
labs (due to unfiltered internet access) and a kitchen area
that still had not been cleaned after a squirrel infestation.
All of these problems were rectified, causing only minor annoyances.
“At least it’s consistent with years past,” said Tyler Burnet,
an instructor at Satori Camp. His acting class has already been
moved twice, and now resides in the Preschool.
“I think the core problem is the lack of
history,” said Mike Cantlon, co-founder and co-director of Satori
Camp, referring to the fact that much of the staff that had
previously worked with the camp had recently been replaced.
He did, however, say that Leslie Younger had been very helpful,
doing her best to fix all the problems that came up.
The Satori Harold itself ran into problems,
when it was sent looking for a room, when the EWU staff decided
that, since the students are under the age of eighteen, they
couldn’t have access to unfiltered internet. “In the past we’ve
worked that out,” said Mike. The camp had previously used a
waiver to get into that lab, but this year, something was worked
out differently. The Satori Harold did eventually get a computer
lab equipped with internet filters.
