If
you live under a rock, or are deaf, then you may not know that
there was a concert on the 2nd floor of Louise Anderson Hall.
The performers were Michaela Alden on the synthesizer, and Charlie
Smith on the drums. The musical pair played a set of six songs,
all written by Alden.
The set included the songs ‘This Face’, ‘Word
Play’, ‘What Can I Say’, ‘Messed Up’, and ‘The Skin You’re In’,
plus an encore performance by Alden.
Smith also had a short drum solo, during
which he looked like a hyperactive octopus.
Throughout the concert, the audience shouted
questions and requests, which eventually elicited a response
from Smith. After Ben Schwinn shouted something at the performers,
Smith yelled “Shut up and stop asking questions, you stupid
pinko!”
Alden also spoke briefly about how she began
her musical career. Alden got
her first keyboard when she was in 5th grade. Her first public
performance was at her first year of Satori, which is why she
plays for an audience here every year she can.
