Seen:
- A spontaneous discussion of Harry Potter
and the Half-Blood Prince in the 3rd floor corridor
- Madeline, manning the keys-and-meal-card
table at check-in. She was a much better assistant to Sara
than Tyler.
- ‘Babyface’ Buchholtz, clean-shaven.
Heard:
- In a discussion about beans, camper
Ashley said, “My grandma boils them.” Her friend Allison added,
“I thought you microwaved them.” Horrified, Paris Nix said,
“Haven’t any of you children heard of a steamer?!”
- “You sleep in dorms. But that’s
not all that goes on there—wait!” Mike Cantlon absently commented
to the parents yesterday.
- “Make sure you follow the rules,
because otherwise the camp will get shut down, and important
people will send ninjas to kill you,” Matt Buchholtz warned
his campers yesterday in complete seriousness.
- “I chopped off my finger and didn’t
notice,” Jeri Kopet announced, baffled. “Sam, Sam!” Hanna
Hanks said in a panicked tone. But as soon as she reached
her sister, she stopped and said, “Never mind, it’s Keith
Barton,” and walked away.
