Book Review: Harry Potter

Selina Wang
Harold Staff Reporter

Nobody keeps us up all night reading their books like J.K. Rowling. This author amazes the world again with her famous Harry Potter series. There were parties all over the world in anticipation of the publication of the latest book.

The 6th book is hard to put down. The twists and turns that the author makes in the book never let you stop reading. Sometimes the suspense keeps you on the end of your chair. The endings always make your heart beat fast because of all the action. Admit it, who didn’t count off the dates for the coming of the 6th book? Most people read the 700 pages in one or two days. J.K. Rowling’s books are funny and moving at the same time, dealing with both teenage romances and the perilous struggle between good and evil.

It is in fact the serious content which is causing Harry Potter to loose readers. Some people feel that the ending is wrong. They feel that too many people are dying. In the Three most recent books a wrenching death has upset the wizarding world, and Harry’s personal world.

There is also a certain amount of scepticism about Harry himself. Doesn’t it feel like Harry always escapes during dangers? He manages to escape from Voldemort in every single book. And, though Rowling will doubtless create twists in book seven, we all now how it’s going to end. Harry just always seems to get lucky when in danger.

But, most people really enjoy the Harry Potter books. I mean, the 6th book was a top selling book before it even came out! J.K. Rowling’s fantastic ideas really make life more interesting.
